History Reimagined
For generations, barns have stood as the heart of functioning farms, originally serving the community as vital gathering places and "grocery stores" for neighbors and travelers. Beyond selling milk, eggs, and produce, these structures housed local dances, connecting people for hundreds of years.
Established in the mid 1800s, the Big Brown Barn (BBB) has stood for more than two centuries. Though purchased in 1975 and partially converted - one for living, the other for storage - the deep integrity of the original architecture remains perfectly intact. Today, you can still trace the original limestone foundation visible both inside and out, while the aged wood emits an earthy, woody scent, rich with history. With the original silo still standing and the milking room preserved as part of the restoration, we are committed to keeping the barns in their authentic form. By honoring this history, we are returning these magnificent structures to their original, celebrated place in the community.
